Product details
The ErgoPad Redux Hallux foot orthosis is designed to relieve pain caused by a stiff or arthritic big toe joint — known medically as hallux rigidus or hallux limitus. If bending your big toe is painful when you walk, this full-length insole helps by gently limiting movement in the joint so every step feels more comfortable.
The big toe joint (the metatarsophalangeal joint) does most of the work as your foot rolls from heel to toe. When this joint is stiff or worn, that rolling motion can trigger sharp pain. The ErgoPad Redux Hallux eases this by supporting and stabilising the joint during the push-off phase of your stride, actively reducing pain caused by bending.
At its core is a firm, viscoelastic support element positioned directly beneath the big toe joint and extending across the ball of the foot. This keeps the inner and outer ball of the foot level, preventing the forefoot from rolling outwards (supination) and keeping your foot moving in its natural, healthy direction. The custom-fitted support also stops the insole from levering out of your shoe.
A soft, padded polyurethane (PU) cushion layer absorbs and spreads pressure under the forefoot, adding all-day comfort on top of targeted relief.
This is the full-length (long) version and is available with the support element on the left or right foot, in narrow and wide fittings, so it can be tailored to wherever you need relief. It also requires very little adjustment to fit into your footwear.
- Targeted relief for a stiff or arthritic big toe (hallux rigidus & hallux limitus)

Common questions
The things people ask us most before ordering.
What happens if I order the wrong size?
Send it back within 30 days for a full refund, or email orders@jointoperations.co.uk and we'll swap it for the right size.
Measuring before you order is the quickest route - the size finder on this page turns two tape-measure numbers into a size in about twenty seconds.
Can I wear it under clothing?
Yes. The knit is low-profile and designed to sit under trousers, leggings or a tracksuit without bunching. Most people wear it all day without anyone noticing.
How do I wash it?
Machine wash at 30°C on a gentle cycle with any fasteners closed. No fabric softener and no tumble drying - dry it flat, away from direct heat.
Washing it regularly actually helps: it lifts the body oils out of the knit and the compression holds its shape for longer.
How long should I wear it for?
Most people wear a support during activity and take it off to sleep. If a clinician recommended it to you, follow their guidance - they'll have a plan for your particular situation.
If you've bought it yourself for ongoing pain and you're not sure, it's worth getting the underlying problem looked at rather than relying on the support alone.
When will it arrive?
Standard delivery takes 3-4 working days and is free on orders over £95. Order before 12:30pm Monday to Thursday for next-day delivery.
Orders placed before 12:30pm on a working day are dispatched the same day; after the cut-off, or at the weekend, they go out on the next working day.
Can I claim it back on insurance or through work?
Some private health policies and occupational health schemes cover orthopaedic supports when they've been recommended by a clinician. We can send an itemised VAT invoice for your claim - just email us with your order number.
Can I buy wholesale for my clinic or shop?
Yes. We're the UK distributor for Bauerfeind, and we supply retailers, clinics, pharmacies and physiotherapy practices directly. Send us a trade enquiry and we'll come back with pricing and account terms.
